As a member of the WWF Seafood Group, Micarna has committed to refrain from offering fish and seafood from acutely threatened fish populations, to gradually replace products from unsustainable origins with better alternatives, and to continuously expand the proportion of recommended labels.

FISH AND SEAFOOD

Total: The proportion of sustainable sources relative to the total seafood range

Micarna has set the target of procuring 100% of the total seafood assortment from sustainable sources (very recommended, recommended, or acceptable according to WWF) by 2018. It is measured as a percentage of turnover of the total seafood assortment. The scope of application is Micarna Seafood.

Micarna has set the target of having 44% of the total seafood assortment certified with recommended/very recommended labels according to WWF by 2018. In 2018, 45% of the overall seafood assortment was certified with recommended/very recommended labels according to WWF.

Micarna has set the target of having 35% of the farmed fish assortment certified with recommended/very recommended labels according to WWF by 2018. It is measured as percentage of turnover of the farmed-fish assortment. The scope of application is Micarna Seafood. The following labels are considered recommended/very recommended: ASC, and Bio.

In 2018, 36% of the farmed assortment was certified with recommended/very recommended labels according to WWF.

Comment: The decrease is primarily attributable to two product groups: salmon and pangasius. Time and again, there were bottlenecks in the supply of organic and ASC salmon products, and less pangasius was sold in general. Both products (salmon and pangasius) make an important contribution to the total turnover, and the results are directly reflected in the proportion of certified goods.
